I don’t ask for big donations. Even ₹2 can help continue this mission. I only ask for your ears, your time, and your voice to spread the message. 🇮🇳 Long live humanity. Long live Bharat. — Awareness Appa
I am K. Sivasubramani, lovingly known as Awareness Appa.
Born in Namakkal district on 11.11.1959, I moved to Tiruppur in 1995 with my wife and three daughters, seeking a better life. We worked day and night in small jobs — from hosiery companies to two-wheeler workshops. Life was not easy, but we stood strong together as a family.
As years passed, all three of my daughters got married — each through love marriages, and each wedding supported by us. After fulfilling these responsibilities, my wife Janaki (Awareness Amma) and I asked each other:
“Now that our family is settled, what should we do for the rest of our lives?”
And that’s where our journey of selfless service began.
We didn’t have money to donate — but we had time, passion, and a voice.
We gave up cable TV, meat, cinema outings — and instead used those small savings to print awareness pamphlets and start our journey on 01.01.2005.
With a silver pot donation box around our necks, we travelled by bicycle, bus, and train to 18 districts in Tamil Nadu. We went wherever people would listen — schools, streets, colleges, temples, and bus stands.
.
We began spreading awareness on:
🩸 Blood Donation
👁️ Eye & Organ Donation
🚦 Road Safety
🧬 Stem Cell Donation
🛣️ Traffic Discipline
💀 Body Donation & Skin Donation
In 2014, my beloved wife Janaki was diagnosed with lung cancer. She passed away on March 16th, 2014 in CMC Vellore.
Even in her final moments, she held my hand and said:
“Promise me you will never stop this service. Not even after I’m gone.”
I made that promise — and I’ve kept it.
Due to stress and heartbreak after my wife’s passing, I suffered a stroke and partial paralysis. But even now, I ride my bike over 150 km a day, speak to schools, and carry on this mission.
Traveled over 6,00,000 kilometers across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Puducherry.
Delivered awareness speeches in government schools, colleges, and public places — from Tiruppur to Jaipur.
Quit alcohol in 1989 and smoking in 2009 — on my 50th birthday.
Honored personally by local, state, and national figures including PM Modi and President Droupadi Murmu Amma.
Awarded Youth Book of World Records in 2024 for 20 years of road safety service.
I dream of building a Free Rehabilitation & Shelter Center for differently-abled people in Tiruppur district — worth crores. I want to die not in rest, but in service — raising awareness, helping others, and making my Bharat proud
